Bandar Kheiran fjord hike

Along the Bandar kheiran reservation area, lays the most scenic trail with-in the region of Muscat.

Easily accesed and self guiding is possible along the panoramic Fjord.

Bandar kheiran reservation area is among on of the greatest reservation areas with in Muscat region yet it doesnt require any entry permission, its located south part of Muscat with a distance of 50 Km from Sultan Qaboos Grand mosque. its knows for its fjords, mangrove trees, marine life suitable for snorkeling with 95% chance of ancountering turtles.

There is many activities could be done here such as hikking, camping, snorkling and kayaking along with othere sea activities and one of my favourites is a 5-in-1 with over night at one of the islands, where its an pre-arranged trip where it will include a hike along the panoramic view of fjords towards one of the crystal clear beach, followed by kayaking to one of the caves and then towards a beach for a snorkeling activity to spot turtles and other marine life and end the day by camping at the island and catching the sunrise early in the morning. we end it at the second day by a cruise back by boat to the starting point.

At this blog will focus on the panoramic self-guided hike which is with in the reservation area of Bandar Kheiran and with-in Muscat region. making its one of things to add to the to do list in Muscat……….

Location

Gathering point is at Shell petrol station at Wadi Aday , where at this point one could grab water bottle and some snacks for the hike as well fill their car tanks for saftey in case other stations is out of stock.

followed by moving to the next location, which is the view point along the way, called by Hamriya view point where rigid mountains hold beneath it a warm and peaceful feeling of the white houses. then move towards the beggining point of the hike at Bandar Al Kheiran View point and get ready for the astonishing view of Bandar Kheiran Fjord hike.

Best time to visit

i would recommend that best timing for the hike is before sunset by two hours as the panoramic view when its blended with sunset colors will creat a really calm atmospher at the same time there is no issue doing it during morning nor afternoon… the best timing is evening for me, in case you had to do it earlier, i would like to hear your feedback as well.

Difficulty level

its easy and family friendly. its a 4.5 km loop wich can be done easily with in two hours with many stops to wander.

How to get there

A saloon car can easily acces the place with no doubt, road condition is supeeer smooth.

Notes

Its recommended to wear a covered clothes as a respect of locals

ask for permition if you would like to take a portrait of any local
there is no annoying flies
